We met Jenna on a cold night in February 2012 after seeing a small sign that said Skyland Stables on a country fence. We had been looking for a new barn and coach for our daughter to continue her love of riding and horses. When we got home we googled Skyland Stables and arranged a meeting with Jenna.
We arrived to a very clean barn and very well cared for horses that night and Paige had her first lesson with Jenna. The atmosphere in the car on the way home was much different than it had been when we had visited and tried other barns and coaches. A couple of days passed and Paige came to us and said “I really liked Jenna and would like to go with her” the rest is history.
Over the last 3.5 yrs Jenna has become more than just a coach she has become a mentor and friend. Paige has learnt so much more than just how to ride, Jenna has shared her knowledge, love and passion for horses.
Skyland Stables has such a positive and friendly atmosphere, everyone becomes an instant family member.
“My 10 year old daughter has only been riding at Skyland Stables for 6 months but the improvement I have seen in her riding is simply amazing. Jenna is a wonderful teacher. She has patience and is able to clearly explain concepts in a way a child can understand. Her lessons are fun, safe and are tailored to build strong, confident riders. I highly recommend Skyland Stables to any parent that is looking for a program that will allow their child to flourish.”
As an adult I was very interested in getting back into riding, after riding for a short time when I was younger. My interest was sparked after attending a corporate polo function. After doing some research I came upon Skyland Stables. I liked the fact that it was a smaller stable with 16 stalls and one very experienced coach. I really wanted to find a stable that I would feel comfortable going in after 15+ years of not riding not knowing what I may have forgotten or what I would need assistance with. After speaking with Skyland’s coach Jenna Rogerson I knew immediately that Skyland was exactly what I was looking for. From the moment I walked in I was made to feel comfortable and part of the team. I also liked that fact that it wasn’t all children that were there learning; there are a number of adults there as well which makes the environment very relaxing and laid back.
I started back slowly with weekly lessons and while this is a show barn I didn’t feel pressure to move up before I was ready. After a few months back at it I started to part board one of the horses I had been riding. It was at this time that I really wanted to take the next step and get my own horse so that I could show. Being new to this I really had no clue where to start. Jenna searched high and low for me reviewing I’m sure hundreds of horses. Jenna came with me to “test drive” a couple of horses and knew immediately she found me my perfect mare.
It has been just over a year that I have been back riding and in that time I have built my confidence enough that I am now showing on the “A” circuit this year. I am very proud to say that I am currently ranked 4th in the Beginner Adults in Ontario. I could not have done any of this without the support of Jenna. Her passion for horses and training is demonstrated on a daily basis when she goes above and beyond for all her clients. Her number one priority is ensuring that all the horses are happy and healthy. She works closely with nutritionists, blacksmiths, veterinarians and alternative therapists to ensure your horse is always performing at its best. This was extremely important for me; as a new horse owner there are so many things I was/am uneducated about when it comes to my horse’s daily requirements. Not only does Jenna make sure my horses needs are met she is a great teacher always ensuring I know why it’s important to do what we are doing.
In a business that is extremely competitive it is hard to find someone who possesses such passion, high standards and professionalism about their business. I have found this at Skyland with Jenna and know that my horses well being is always number one and truly feel like we are a part of the Skyland family.
I have had the opportunity to work closely with Jenna Rogerson of Skyland Stables and I cannot express what an incredible opportunity it has been. Jenna is not your average stable owner, she makes sure that the horses and boarders are of the up most priority at all times. The amount of time and energy that Jenna puts into coaching and training her students and horses shows in the successes she has been able to achieve every year. You will not find another barn that puts the care of you and your horses over everything else, even if it is 1am in the morning lol.I have worked with Jenna first hand, and have learned so much over the past year and a half. The passion and professionalism Jenna exudes is something you don’t come across very often in this industry and is inspiring.
The barn is full of extremely friendly and hilarious girls who are nothing but supportive towards every rider whether they are new to riding or seasoned riders looking to join the competitive show team. This farm has not only become my second home, but the people there have also become great friends of mine. I would recommend Jenna and Skyland Stables to anyone who is looking for a facility that not only focuses on the health and wellbeing of each horse and rider; but one that strives to meet your individual goals.
I first started riding with Jenna when I was 14. Most of my riding career at that point had been competing in the hunters with a couple years of eventing. I started training with Jenna when I really wanted to start focusing on competing in the jumpers. It was the best decision I ever made! Jenna has a natural way of instilling confidence in young riders and their equine partners. She works with everyone involved (riders, horses, owners, parents, etc.) to create realistic, achievable goals that bring out the very best in the partnership between horse and rider. In the three and a half years I as with Jenna I went from being a kid, a bit unsure about the world of jumpers, showing in the 1.0m to a young rider with the techniques and confidence to get successful results in the 1.20m jumpers. Not only did I learn more about myself and my horse than ever before, feel confidence in my ability as a rider and consistently had top results, but I gained a life long friend as well!
As an older adult (novice) rider, I was pretty nervous about changing barns. But after just a few months with Jenna, I am really, really happy. The barn is a friendly, supportive place regardless whether you show on the circuit, or just ride for fun. Jenna and Skyland offer me everything I am looking for – fantastic care for the horses, focused lessons tailored to your ability and your confidence level, and attention to safety of horses and riders. Jenna’s lessons are fun, and always well planned. I am learning so much – I look forward to every trip to the barn.
